Nodame Cantabile Grand Finale!

Hello guys! So, we've finally come to the end of the line. I received the raws while at office yesterday morning and I felt so frustrated that I can't read it on the spot. After I read it, I'm so not in the mood to write the summary because I feel sad. It was so rushed. None of the things I was expecting to happen, happened. Ninomiya-sensei just wanted to wrap the whole thing up.

Okay, onto the summary.

Nodame Cantabile Chapter 136: Last Lesson

(Don't they look so good together? Kyaah!)

Nodame went to meet Auclair-sensei at the Paris Conservatory of Music. Auclair-sensei asked her if she has bounced back already from her illness. Nodame said yes and told him that she wanted to study again. However, it was bad timing because the classes already ended and Auclair-sensei got a performance the next day. He told Nodame to take the make-up classes and he also told her that the Bunoa family from Saint Malo Castle wanted her to perform again this summer. Nodame accepted the request and will be practicing hard throughout vacation.

On the other hand, Chiaki was cleaning up Nodame's apartment and was carrying two big bags of garbage. He met two new students who'll be occupying in the apartment of Chiaki's mother. He said that his mother is once again gathering weird students.

Yunlong has finally went back to China and was telling Tanya that he'll give her a teaching position in their school. Tanya did well in her exams and is now entering competition. Frank, on the other hand, is going to have a concert with Rui in a music festival. Chiaki and Nodame were talking about it and Chiaki felt envious of him. Nodame asked him in what music festival will he be performing however, it turned out that it wasn't a music festival. It is a harvest festival.

Chiaki was definitely dumbfounded. He didn't understand how it turned out this way. Why does he need to perform music for onions? But still, they did a good performance.

Kuroki and Tanya are on a train on their way to Germany. Kuroki asked Tanya to be his accompanist in the oboe competition. Tanya thought they would be staying in the same hotel. Kuroki said that he got a different one for her. Tanya was a bit against it and Kuroki blushed. Realizing that he mistook her words, she backtracked and said that it was lonely to be alone. The two started to read the notes together.

A music that was written over a hundred years ago has the power to bring together people who were so different, from their gender to their eye color, to the country from which they were born in, together.

People who thought they can never agree on anything, blend in harmony over a single note.

Apparently, the above phrase was being said by Chiaki to Nodame. They were in... a beach? (It looks like an ocean but they were sitting in some grassy land not on the sand, so maybe they're not near the beach actually but somewhere elevated. Chiaki's afraid of the ocean right?) Nodame told him that, that kind of thing doesn't only happen to him. It is happening to people all over the world.

Ryuka was also there with them and he said that someday he will be greater conductor than Chiaki. Also, it appears that he was being homeschooled.

Elise and Stresemann were in an amusement park and she told him that she got Nodame to perform for the London Philharmonic again. Stresemann was happy about it but said that he'll always be Nodame's first guy. (Perverted meaning. LOL) He was also happy that Nodame and Chiaki are finally together as one.

In Saint Malo, everyone is talking about Nodame's concert with Stresemann before. A lot of people came to see her perform this time. They were saying that she's very lucky because she has never even won in a competition before.

On the other hand, Nodame was in Mozart's costume again.

Nodame: Bonjour! Je m'appelle NODAME. I'm gonna have fun playing so please try your best to listen to it.

Chiaki: Here we go again...

THE END.

______________________________

Thoughts:

Sigh.

Sorry.

Can I honestly say that I was a bit disappointed?

Like I said, Ninomiya-sensei just wanted to wrap the whole thing up. She did her best to include everyone (in Paris) in the finale. We get to see the path the other characters are heading onto now.

Nodame's back on track. She's going to study again and on the same time perform too.
Chiaki is still on his way to become a great conductor.
Kuroki and Tanya are together and they're moving towards music together.
Yunlong is back with his family and maybe he'll succeed in China.
Frank is finally getting some attention. His concert with Rui is going to be a huge thing.
Stresemann, though very close to being deaf now, has lived a full life. So, he's now having fun.

But still, it wasn't quite enough. If she wanted to do that, I would've wanted to see the members of the S Orchestra and the R*S Orchestra. What happened to them?

My rambling will just be short because in my opinion, this chapter is not yet the finale. There would be a bangaihen (extra chapter) on December 12. Maybe we'll see the other characters from Japan there.

Also, this chapter is all about the characters FACING MUSIC HEAD ON AND JOURNEY THROUGH MUSIC. I'm holding out hope that on the extra story, we'll see what has become of the romance between Chiaki and Nodame.

After all, we're all NodamexChiaki's shippers aren't we?

See you guys next month. I'll still be back to do the summary for the extra story.

Leave your comments and opinions of the so-called Grand Finale.

Nodame Cantabile Saishū Gakushō Trailer

I am so excited for this. I feel like crying. Oh my God.

With the announcement of Nodame Cantabile's grand finale, I can't help but feel mixed emotions. Excited, happy, sad.

For the longest time, I've been following this series. It's actually the very first ongoing series that I followed religiously. For the first time, I also created a blog site dedicated only to this manga. I read raws, write summaries and then put my two-cents in it.

It's like I've invested so many things for this manga and now it's ending. I feel so close to all the characters that I want their story to continue.I love Noda Megumi to pieces and I also love Chiaki Shinichi even though at times, I get mad at him.

The trailer looks promising. Actually, I really don't care even if it's not. But since it's Nodame Cantabile, I'm sure it's good.

Nodame Cantabile 135

I'm gonna start this one with an apology. I'm so sorry that it's so delayed but it's near October and it's peak season for the tourism industry (and I work for that industry) so I've been very, very busy.

But it's second to the last chapter, so I know it's okay.

On to the summary.

Lesson 135

At the end of the previous chapter, we saw Chiaki barging in and asking Nodame to do a concerto with him. However, Nodame refused. Chiaki was very surprised but Nodame said that why does she have to do it when she already have a perfect concerto with Milch. She didn't think that she'll be able to do something of that level again. She said that she's afraid that if she did that concerto with Chiaki and something goes wrong, she might fall out of love with him.

Chiaki remembered the time when he first asked Nodame to go with him to Europe and she also refused him. He thought that it has always been like this. Nodame doesn't accept Chiaki that easily.

Chiaki grabbed hold of Nodame's hand and dragged her out of the room and out of the apartment. The onlooking kids were surprised and exclaimed that Nodame is being dragged away by a prince.

They rode a train and Nodame asked him where he is taking her and she said that she has changed. She told him that this time, he won't be able to fool and lure her with food and anime like before.

Chiaki arrived at Nina Lutz house. A very surprised Nina, who is exercising, asked why is Chiaki there and who's that girl with him. Chiaki didn't answer her but went straight to a room with two pianos. He told Nodame that they will play Mozart Sonata for 2 Pianos.

Chiaki: (thought) It was the very first song we performed together.

Nodame told him that she is now different than before. Chiaki also remarked that he is also different.

Chiaki told him that they'll play the whole piece even though there are mistakes. By the door, Nina was looking at the two.

Chiaki: (thought) It's definitely different from the first time we performed this but... I'll show her that I can keep up with her!

Nina Lutz also remembered the time when she heard someone playing the Bartok (sorry, I'm too lazy to look up the chapter) and I guess she realized that it was Nodame at that time. She also remembered the time when Chiaki asked about Nodame's piano playing.

Our beginning was Beethoven, and the two of us changed in this small piano practice room with this Mozart.

No matter how difficult or painful the battles we have to face, as long as there is this happiness, I know I can surpass the difficulties.

After the whole song, Chiaki was scolding Nodame. He said that he tried very hard to keep up with her so how could she messed up the 3rd movement.

Nodame: My heart is pounding. I want to hug your back. Is this what you call falling in love? (LOL. It's like that all over again.)

Then Nodame jumped onto Chiaki. And Chiaki hugged her back.

Nina Lutz was saying that, it has been four years already so Chiaki was the faithful type.

Thoughts:

First, let me get this out of my system. KKKKYYYYYAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Phew! Thank goodness that was out of the way. Seriously, this chapter is too good for words. It still feels rushed but the romantic vibe is overflowing that I can overlook that part. Ninomiya-sensei is really genius that way.

Anyway, I guess a lot of us were actually expecting Nodame to refuse the offer of doing a concerto with Chiaki. It's indeed more natural for her to react like that. However, I was actually surprised with her reason. She was refusing to do a concerto with him because she's scared that she'll fall out of love with him if the concerto goes less than perfect.

Now, I see why she went a bit crazy after the last concerto. She went to Egypt and refused to see Chiaki, Milch and even go back to her classes.

I think it's like this: her dream concerto is the one with Chiaki conducting it however she already made her debut with Milch. Her concerto with Milch was really good and it has surpassed everybody's expectations. So now, she doesn't think that she'll be able to do that kind of performance again so she's afraid to do it with Chiaki.

Nina said Chiaki's faithful, but I think Nodame's even more faithful.

I love how Mozart Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major has once again made its appearance and near the end at that! (I absolutely love this piece by the way. ) I think it's very fitting because a lot of things happened because of this piece. Back then, after they performed this piece, Nodame fell in love with Chiaki and that got her to be seious in piano in order to be with him anywhere he goes and Chiaki, on the other hand, decided to go after his dreams of becoming a conductor.

After that came, S Orchestra, Nina Lutz Seminar, RS Orchestra, Maradonna Piano Competition, Paris, Chiaki's conducting competition, Nodame's hardships, Chiaki's tour with Stresemann, Nodame's lessons with Auclair-sensei, Chiaki's performance with Rui, Nodame's recital, Chiaki's orchestra, Nodame's debut with Milch...

I agree with Chiaki, Beethoven was the start, or more like the prelude and Mozart was really the beginning. The piece from a composer that Nodame doesn't really like. Kinda ironic, but the web was intricately made.

So, for the last chapter, what do you think? A concerto? A trip together? A wedding? Kids???? (I want to imagine a son like Nodame and a daughter like Shinichi, haha.)

Whatever it is, I really hope the series wraps up well. I'm pretty sure Ninomiya-sensei doesn't want to disappoint us too.

Let's all wait with bated breath for the last chapter on October 10.

Nodame Cantabile Chapter 136, THE GRAND FINALE!!!

Notice the shocked look on Nodame's face?
That idiot Chiaki loves you, you idiot Nodame.
Jeez, what a couple of fools.
^__^

Nodame Cantabile will end on October 10

So, apparently, the rumors were all true.

I previously posted about hearing from my friend that Nodame will end in Chapter 135 or 136. But there were no official reports about it. And the last report about the manga's end was from Asahi Newspaper that the manga's end would coincide with the opening of the last live action next spring.

But now, Anime News Network has reported that the manga will definitely end on the October 10 issue of Kiss Magazine. And also, according to the sidenote of Chapter 135, next chapter will be the grand finale.

Phew! It's sad that my favorite manga is really gonna end. But I'm so happy that I followed it for the longest time. These past few years of my life has constantly have Nodame Cantabile in it.

Thank you Ninomiya-sensei.

A special thanks to Megabyte and Anya for informing me quickly about the update. Sorry, I've been so busy, I didn't catch it. Thanks!

Clearing up some rumors

I admit, I also believed this when I heard about it.

My friend, the one who sends me the raws, said that there are rumors that Nodame Cantabile would probably end in chapter 135 or 136. I actually believed that for awhile. It's obvious that we are heading towards the end but after reading the latest chapter (134), seriously, how can that be??? Unless the next chapter would have so so so many pages.

And besides, it has been reported that the manga's end would coincide with the opening of the final live action next spring. Spring months in Japan are March, April and May. So, Nodame Cantabile will end next year. We have a few more chapters to enjoy. Yay!!!

Just so everything is clear. I was confused when I heard those rumors myself. I read the news before so when the rumors came out, I thought maybe Ninomiya-sensei changed her mind? And when I read chapter 133 when Chiaki decided to accept Nodame's proposal and everything felt so rushed, I thought umm, maybe she's really ending it so she's rushing a lot.

But Chapter 134 proved otherwise. So, I checked again and asked my friend to check too. And at the end, we decided to stick to what Asahi Shimbun reported. The manga's end will be next spring.

So sorry again to those people who asked me about it and that's what I said.

If anything comes up, or if there will be any changes again, I would certainly post it here.

EDIT: Please read the news update. Go here.

Nodame Cantabile 134

Here's the much awaited chapter 134. However, beware, another bloody cliffhanger.

Onto the summary.

Lesson 134

Nodame was still around with the children, acting like a teacher and playing with them. The children requested her to play different compositions and she gladly did it for them. The children all think that Nodame is really good and awesome.

On the way out of the room, she met Yunlong who asked her what she is doing. He said that she had the chance that everyone wanted and after all the work she had done, she shouldn't be doing this. However, Nodame is still ignoring Yunlong. Frank and Tanya heard the conversation and they looked worried.

Nodame went to Yadovi's room. Looks like the two now are really good friends. They talked about Nodame's songs. Yadovi had made some arrangement to Nodame's song and she played it. Nodame liked it and she said that it was amazing to hear someone arranged the song she composed. She also told Yadovi how she always get yelled at for rearranging classical compositions back in the music school.

Yadovi said that back in the 18th century, the composers were also the performers and she thinks that Nodame may be fitted for something like that. Also, in the 19th century where nobody cares even if you added something/made changes to the song you're playing.

Every classical compositions now have recordings and there is the supposed right way to play every song. This made them feel restrained and afterwards, people will have to critique on how you play the composition. Nodame said that when you perform your own song, you can do it anyway you like.

Nodame showed Yadovi another one of her compositions. This one is about Nattou. She said she wanted to play this on a children show. Yadovi said that she wanted something like that too.

They started playing Yadovi's song while the children sang the lyrics to it. Chiaki came back from Brazil and he was outside listening to Nodame playing. He thinks that Nodame is better this way. If this is the path that she has chosen, then he can accept it. Since as long as he is with her, he can hear her play and listen to her every time he wants.

Inside the room, Yadovi made Nodame stopped because Nodame made some mistakes. Nodame said that she's rearranging it a little. She and Yadovi started to squabble a bit. The children started to wonder if Nodame is really good. They said she's disappointing.

Nodame contradicted what they said and told them that she can do it if she wants too. She looked serious and started to play Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 31. Everyone is transfixed. Even Chiaki. With tears in his eyes, Chiaki thought that even though he thinks that way, every time he hears Nodame play like this, he always wanted to see her perform on stage.

He opened the door to the room.

"NODAME, DO A CONCERTO WITH ME."

_______________________________________

Thoughts:

A freakin' cliffhanger right?

When chapter 133 ended, we all know that Chiaki has decided to accept Nodame's proposal. By the looks of his first thoughts, that is exactly what he has intended to do. He decided to accept the path that Nodame has chosen. When I was reading the raws, I was anxiously waiting for that moment.

However, surprisingly, when Chiaki heard Nodame played the Beethoven Sonata, he realized that he just can't let it go. (He had tears in his eyes after hearing her play dammit!) He wanted to see Nodame perform amazingly on stage. So, instead of a proposal, he asked her to do a concerto with him.

We all know that aside from being Chiaki's bride, this concerto has always been Nodame's dream. She wanted to play the piano while he would be the one conducting.

I wonder what Nodame's first reaction going to be, aside from the shock look on her face when she heard Chiaki's voice. They haven't seen each other for so long.

But, the big question is, will she accept it as easily as that? Or would she refuse?

Is it safe to say with this new development that being a Kindergarten teacher is a no-no for now?

Oh, well, let's all find that out in Chapter 135 to be released on September 25. Another month-long wait.

Hey! Leave your comments!!! Share your thoughts and let's discuss!

Nodame Cantabile 133

Woohoo! Here it is. I was planning to do this post last Aug. 10 after reading the raws but something came up. Anyway, I'm also happy that Nodame is on the cover of Kiss Magazine.

Onto the summary.

Lesson 133

Nodame has come back to Paris.
What will happen when she finally meets Chiaki???

Chiaki finally arrived in Brazil but he was surprised to be brought to the beach by the guy who picked him up. The guy said that he wanted Chiaki to enjoy first and go sightseeing in the beach since it is his first time in Brazil. But Chiaki doesn't want to be in the beach.

In the concert hall, he met the concertmaster and a saxophone player from England named Jimmy. Jimmy is bright and friendly while Chiaki is quiet and gloomy. The other people in the rehearsal can't help but notice how the two are complete opposites of each other.

After the rehearsal, Chiaki and Jimmy got into a conversation. Jimmy was telling Chiaki about a female violinist and it seemed that he was interested in her. Aside from that, he is also commenting about Chiaki's personality. Jimmy was thinking that maybe it was because of the heat in this foreign country that's got Chiaki all stiff.

When Chiaki returned to hotel, he saw the message on his phone from Kuroki. (The last scene , Chapter 132) "Megumi-chan has come back to the apartment in Paris. She's doing fine." Aside from the text message, Kuroki also sent a video. Chiaki watched the scene where Nodame was playing her 'fart exercise" and laughing happily. Chiaki thought Nodame is happy with her life back in Japan.

The next morning, Chiaki saw Jimmy with the blonde violinist. They greeted each other and Jimmy said that he's thinking of getting married. Chiaki thought this was incredulous since the two only met yesterday. However, Jimmy was adamant about it.

While practicing, Chiaki has decided that he will accept Nodame's proposal. He thought that it might be already late and that she might've forgotten about it already but he has decided that he would say 'yes.' (Squeal!!!! about time, Chiaki, you damn, damn fool!!!)

Back in Paris, Nodame has become somewhat like a babysitter for kids. Tanya was surprised that there are even more kids playing with her. She wondered what Nodame is thinking, getting paid for doing something like this, since she has already debuted and very popular.

Kuroki, while looking at Nodame, remembered that she has always wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher before. He thinks that maybe, Nodame still hasn't changed.

--------------------------

Thoughts:

When I was reading the raws last Monday, I felt like I was going crazy. Haha. Especially, when I read that part where Chiaki has finally decided to accept Nodame's proposal. Ah! It definitely feels like we're approaching the end. Okay, I know that we only have a few chapters left however, it didn't feel that way with the previous chapters. It felt like there was still so much more to happen. But seriously, after reading chapter 133, I felt that we are on the way to THE END. Now, why do I feel like Ninomiya-sensei is rushing things?

Aside from that, it looks like she's laying her plans for Nodame out in the open. Kuroki's comment regarding Nodame 'not changing at all' is a big thing. Nodame wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher before. That changed when she met and fell in love with Chiaki and decided to be with him everywhere he goes. That's why she tried to be a professional pianist. But, somehow, you think she's gonna end up like what she really wanted before she met Chiaki?

Well, personally, I think she'll do good as a teacher. She loves kids, and she's like a kid herself so it would be fun for her, for sure. A lot would surely think that she's going to lose a lot (after all, she's on her way to stardom.) But seriously, what's wrong with being a Kindergarten teacher???

So, back to Chiaki accepting Nodame's proposal. I'm happy with this development. Of course, I am rooting for them and I love the two of them to be together. However I am not sure if we can just let Chiaki get away with what he did to Nodame this easily. It sure took him forever to realize how important Nodame is to his life. Like what I've said, Chiaki you damn fool.

Wow, so many things happening to this manga and I'm loving it. Next chapter, I'm sure we're gonna see all the characters together.

Let's all wait for Nodame Cantabile Chapter 134 on August 25, shall we?

(P.S. ^_^ Tell me what you guys think. I love reading your own take on the situation. Leave a comment. We only have a few chapters to go before we say goodbye to our beloved manga.)

EDIT AFTER READING THE COMMENTS: (Actually, I posted this as a reply to the comments but just in case others don't read the comments section.)

Maybe Ninomiya-sensei just wants us to think a lot of 'what ifs.' I agree with 'Nodame being destined for something greater in music.'

And when I also read about Kuroki's comment about Nodame being a teacher, I wondered 'so what exactly are we following all throughout these years? Aren't we supposed to see Nodame grow? and Chiaki also? but more importantly Nodame since this is NODAME Cantabile???

Actually, a lot of questions are still left unanswered. I really hope that for 8 years, Ninomiya-sensei has carefully planned what will happen to this series because it started beautifully and until now, it's still wonderful and strong, so I really don't want it to fall short having a weak ending.

Phew! We are getting so worked up for this. A friend of mine thinks that Chapter 133 sucks and to her, it seemed that Ninomiya-sensei is like just lazing around and getting tired of writing. For me, I will still put my faith in Sensei. After all, for 8 years, she gave us a wonderful story despite her pregnancy, health problems and all. And if, (just if) we (or I for that matter) will get disappointed at the end, I still think that it was all worth it. Sometimes, the end isn't as important as the whole ride.

And even as of now, I can say that my whole Nodame Cantabile experience is one heck of a ride!!!

(Keep the comments coming. Reading other people's perspective to the story adds a whole new and different experience ^_^)

Nodame Cantabile 132

Damn sorry, it took so long. I completely forgot it. I was preparing for my father's birthday last Saturday that it totally left my mind. Maybe, this chapter is already translated in online manga sites now. But anyway, for those who have the raws and don't understand it and for the sake of continuity, I'll still make this entry.

Onto the summary.

Lesson 132

Last chapter, we saw Nodame meeting Yadovi (Yadowi - whatever), the strange girl who lives on the top floor. Yadovi asked Nodame if the noise she created bothered her and Nodame said no. Yadovi showed Nodame her percussion instruments and she wondered why Yadovi have so many of them. The strange girl replied that she is making a composition. Yadovi showed her an African drum that she got from a flea market and some that she made on her own. The two started drumming and Yadovi said that she thinks that drumming is so much fun. Nodame saw Yadovi's piano and remembered that the piano is also a percussion instrument.

Nodame told her that back in Japan, she had also written a composition. Intrigued and interested, Yadovi asked her what kind of song is it and asked Nodame to play it for her. Nodame played her "fart exercise" song and the Mojamoja Suite. Yadovi liked it and said that she wanted to make one too. She started to play on the drums about something she called a Story of Hunger (talks about African animals. weird).

Mr. Nagata heard them playing and realized that Nodame is back. He didn't think that after she played the Beethoven, she would be back.

On the other hand, Chiaki woke up upon hearing a familiar music that he used to hear a lot in the past. His father, Masayuki, is playing the piano. He thought that his father is the type of person who can easily engrossed himself in music no matter what happens to people around him.

His phone beeped and when he looked at it, it was Nodame's phone number. He knew that it was from Elise who used Nodame's phone again. The Brazilian piece was already decided and Elise asked Chiaki to work on it. When he read what it was, he goes, "They're doing this piece? Whatever."

Scene shifted and now we see Tanya, Frank, Yunlong and Kuroki. The guys are asking Tanya about her graduation performance and she said that it was fine. Kuroki is babysitting for two kids. Then they hear the sound of drums coming from the apartment and realized that it was Yadovi making some noise again. One of the kids pointed out that there's also a sound of piano coming from the room. They were intrigued because who could be with Yadovi in there? A ghost? Her friend? Tanya walked to her room and opened the door.

Obviously, they were shocked to see Nodame there. They started to hound her with questions and scolded her for debuting without their knowledge and after that, disappearing suddenly. Yunlong wanted to get Nodame's autograph. He wanted to show it off. Frank asked Nodame what her plans are for the future and said that Chiaki and Madame Seiko are both worried about her.

Nodame ignored them and instead played with the girl who she called as Caroline. They don't understand why Nodame is ignoring them. Meanwhile, Kuroki opened his cellphone and started to text someone.

_______________________________

Thoughts:

This chapter's kinda short. I was quite surprise when I saw that it only has 24 pages. After the long hiatus, yes, I was expecting something longer with even meatier details. But I guess what we got is a prelude to a lot of things.

One: What's Yadovi's part in Nodame's life going to be? Somehow, while they are having conversation with each other, Nodame became somewhat normal again. Then she retreated to her shell again when her friends came.

Two: Chiaki and his father. So, what now, they finally reconciled? Just like that? No, I am not looking for drama, I'm just wondering if Chiaki's already okay with his father.

Three: What's next for Nodame? I also want to know the answer to Frank's questions. Will she go back to school? To Auclair-sensei? To Stresemann?

Four: We all know who Kuroki texted right? Will Chiaki come rushing to Paris to see Nodame now that she's back? Or will he go to Brazil?

I'm so sorry that all I'm leaving are questions. I'm still just so out of it. I haven't fully digested this whole chapter. Maybe I'll edit this post when I think of something or if you have any thoughts, please share. Leave a comment in my cbox located on the sidebar or on the comment box below this post.

I still don't know when's the next chapter coming out. I'll put it here when I find out. Till then!

Nodame Cantabile manga's end to coincide with final live-action film next spring

Manga artist Tomoko Ninomiya confirmed on her personal blog on June 21 that she will resume her Nodame Cantabile romantic comedy manga in Kodansha's biweekly Kiss magazine on July 25, after putting the manga on hold last month due to acute appendicitis. She added on July 7 that she plans to draw new manga installments in the next three issues. She had previously written that she will end the manga soon, and the Asahi Shimbun paper reports that the end of the manga will coincide with the opening of the final live-action film next spring. The cast is filming on location in Vienna, Austria this month.

Not coincidentally, the third television anime series, Nodame Cantabile: Finale, will premiere next January. If it lasts three months like the second anime series did, Nodame Cantabile: Finale will end at about the same time that the live-action film finale opens in Japan. Del Rey publishes the manga in North America.

A rather sad news, isn't it? But I actually expected it already. Remember my little spazz at the end of my thoughts in Chapter 130? At the end, I mentioned about the inscription, "The Fourth Movement" (in French) on the first page of the chapter, and that I think that Ninomiya-sensei is finally ending Nodame Cantabile.

Oh well, we still have a few chapters left to enjoy plus a third anime series and two-live action movies. We will be happy for quite a long time, or atleast I would be.

Ueno Juri in Shiseido MAQUillAGE Autumn Collection

Found some photos of Juri for Shiseido MAQUillAGE Autumn Collection. Different look but pretty nonetheless.

Go check out Shiseido's website.

Tamaki acknowledges romance with Yoshitaka

Popular actor Hiroshi Tamaki (29) has admitted that he is dating young actress Yuriko Yoshitaka (20). Their relationship was first reported by the press earlier this month.

Tamaki confirmed in an interview that the two have been getting along well since appearing together in the TBS drama series "Love Shuffle" this past winter. He also said that they do not call each other very frequently. When he was directly asked about whether Yoshitaka is his girlfriend, he simply smiled without giving a clear answer.

Tamaki is currently overseas for filming, and as a result, he will not be attending the premiere of his movie "MW" on July 4.

I'm so late! Why did I see this news just now? Oh, yeah, I'm busy.

Anyway, I'm quite taken aback by this news. My dream of seeing Juri and Tamaki in real life just went poof! (But we never know, there are still years ahead of them. *wishing*)

Don't take that seriously! Although, I'm a bit sad about not seeing my favorite couple become together, I am HAPPY for HIM! If they are really serious with each other, then I hope they'll be happy. Best of luck to them!

Nodame Cantabile the Movie under the cut!!!

Hey guys, I've found some video clips of the filming. They're not subbed though.

I am so excited for the movie. Juri's so cute in the interview part (first video), she was speaking while in character. Oh, how I love her!

And Tamaki is so hot. He has matured a lot, hasn't he?

Ueno Juri to star in a WOWOW drama

I haven't reported any Juri news. Here's one but it's not so new so maybe a lot of you knew about this already.

#1 Guitar case girl, #2 HOPE, #3 My neighbour's neighbour Akira, #4 Interval during traveling, #5 One morning, Hinata suddenly...

Actress Juri Ueno (23) has been cast in a drama miniseries that will air on WOWOW later this year. Titled "Ueno Juri to Itsutsu no Kaban," the show features Ueno taking on five roles in five episodes.

As the title suggests, each 30-minute episode involves a bag of some kind, such as a guitar case or a mysterious delivery package. Each story has its own staff behind it, including screenwriter Arisa Kaneko ("Densha Otoko") and director Nobuhiro Yamashita ("Linda Linda Linda").

Ueno will also sing the show's ending theme, tentatively titled "Kaban no Banka." This is her first song since she made her CD debut in 2007 with "Onara Taisou" from the "Nodame Cantabile" drama series.

WOWOW will broadcast the series on Thursdays at 11:30pm, starting on September 3.

I have no doubt that Ueno Juri can pull those characters off! She's one of the most talented and versatile actresses in Japan today. She's so young but the recognition and praise for her acting ability have been plenty.

We used to have WOWOW in our cable TV but sometime during the past years, it was taken off by the cable company. I wonder why.

Nodame Cantabile to return on July 25

I was pretty busy this past week that I completely missed out on an important news.

Apparently, last June 16 Nodame's author Ninomiya Tomoko-sensei was brought to the hospital due to an acute appendicitis. Because of this, chapter 132 wouldn't be released on June 25.

However just this morning, I paid a visit to sensei's personal blog and was glad to see that she is okay now. She was finally able to checked out from the hospital. Now she's at home resting.

Nodame Cantabile's serialization will resume on July 25.

Nodame Cantabile 131

I got hold of the raws last night however, I so badly wanted to watch The Devil (Mawang) so I just read through it and decided to make the post today.

On to the summary.

Lesson 131

Chiaki is clearly disturbed by the fact that Nodame was gone. He remembered the time when she went back home in Ookawa but he thought that was different because back then, Nodame lost the competition and went home in failure. But now, she had a great performance so Chiaki is wondering why Nodame's saying that "she can't play anymore." Chiaki thought that as long as he kept an eye on her, it's fine but now he has completely lost sight of her.

Masayuki went to Chiaki and said that he was tricked by Viera-sensei. He was told that his fan Nicole Kidman was there to see him and then it only turned out to be Chiaki. However, Chiaki doesn't seem to pay attention to his father. Masayuki wondered what's wrong with him because he thought that Chiaki hated him so much that he cannot bear to be in the same room with him, breathing the same air. But Chiaki said that those are petty things and it was not the time to think about that. Masayuki said that he is already on the stage of being ignored.

Chiaki asked what is he doing there and Masayuki told him that he saw the concert. Chiaki thought that his father was there to badger him about his mistake but then Masayuki told him that he did good when he conducted Beethoven. Masayuki said that he was glad that Chiaki was raised to be a proper and good person and that he was right to not raise Chiaki himself. Chiaki told him not to be proud about the fact that he wiggled out of his responsibilities. Masayuki said that at least he took Chiaki out and indulged him when he was small. Chiaki doesn't remember any of it.

His father reminded him that he used to take Chiaki on walks and he even brought him to work but Chiaki insisted that he was the one who followed his father back then. The two quabbled a bit about stuff before like Masayuki teasing Chiaki about his handwriting. The two agreed that they just cannot get along well.

Masayuki asked Chiaki what's wrong because it looked like he's worrying about something really important. He said that if he wanted to talk he'll listen especially if it's a funny story. Chiaki was a bit agitated that everyone seemed to be having fun at his expense.

Now the scene shifted to Nodame and we see her riding a train on her way to Paris. However, she overslept and the next stop is already Brussels in Belgium. Actually, her plan is to take a plane from Cairo to Milan. Then from Milan ride the TGV which is the train that goes to France and neighboring countries. But now since she overslept, she's in Brussels and the last train to Paris has already left. She had to wait for tomorrow but she didn't have enough money to spend a night in a hotel.

Back in Italy, Chiaki had apparently told his father all about Nodame. Masayuki was saying that it seemed that saying something like "you can't play anymore' happens a lot in their world (music world). Somehow, there a lot of people who after having a superb performance feel that they cannot do something like that anymore. Masayuki said that sometimes when you leave them alone, they'll eventually snap out of it but there are also people who no matter how long, they never come out of the stupor. So, their contracts are canceled. They're already satisfied with what they did and do not want to do anything anymore. Maybe Nodame was that type of person who gets easily satisfied.

It never crossed Chiaki's mind that Nodame will be so satisfied with what she has already done and would not want to perform with him anymore. Chiaki wondered if she has totally forgotten about him already. He also wondered why the hell is he telling this to someone he really hates.

Masayuki told Chiaki that if he was Nodame, he'll forget about Chiaki, go back to Stresemann and have another performance. Chiaki said that Nodame is not like him. Chiaki must have felt like he was being left behind and wondered when did being with Nodame become the most important thing in his life.

In Brussels, Nodame was allowed to stay in the hotel's storage room for free. The room's a bit messy but she felt right at home. She was hungry and she ate a packed sandwich. She fell asleep while smelling Chiaki's shirt.

Back in Paris, we see Tanya and Yunlong coming out of the apartment talking about random stuff. They didn't see Nodame come back.

Nodame, now back in her room, decided to check messages left on her phone. There were a lot of faxes and voice messages there. There were messages from Etoh, Mine, Kaoru and Moe congratulating her for her succesful debut. Her family also left messages for her.

Then she was disturbed by a sudden noise and saw that it was the mysterious girl on the upper floor. Yadovi apologized that the cymbals fell. She said No-san. Nodame replied, Nodame desu.

Thoughts:

I thought Masayuki went there on his own accord and thought how much of a coincidence was it that his son was also there. That was what I deduced from the last scene in Chapter 130 when he said to Viera-sensei, "I was nearby. Let's grab some lunch." However, it seemed that he was there because he was tricked by Viera. What a great timing it is to be there at the time when Chiaki is not his usual self.

I assumed that it was gonna be hard to get them to talk like that but I am glad that because of Chiaki's problem, he didn't seem to mind so much that Masayuki was there. On the other hand, what a change of heart for Masayuki. I couldn't believe he would actually talk to Chiaki as easily as that.

It's nice to see another side of Masayuki. He was a great factor to be considered when we talk about Chiaki's personality. It seemed that he knows his capability with regards to nurturing a child and knows that he could not do it well. So, rather than badly bringing up Chiaki, Masayuki left Chiaki and passed the responsibilities of rearing him to his wife. It's still not a good enough excuse (heck, not even near good), but I am glad that we are able to finally see the workings of the mind of this talented pianist.

On the other hand, Chiaki's finally coming around. He's worried about Nodame yes, but at the same time, his feelings are surfacing. He realized that he wanted to performed with Nodame. I think not only that but also he wanted to BE with Nodame. And the irony of it all, he was realizing it while he was talking to the person he hates the most.

One thing that confused me though in this chapter was the fact that Nodame went back to Paris. I mean, why that fast? I wonder what's her plan now. The crossroad at page 26 clearly described her problem. I really hope she goes back to Auclair-sensei.

And finally, we see the mysterious girl. Hmm, interesting, what could be her participation in this story now?

Okay, let's wait for Nodame Cantabile Chapter 132 on June 25.

Nodame Cantabile 130

Waah, I'm so happy. It's already out, just right before my birthday. Haha. See, it's really an otanjoubi no presento!

On to the summary.

Lesson 130

Music that sounds more pleasant

Somehow, in Nodame's flight, she ended up in Cairo, Egypt. The first scene showed her asking for a drink in a bar. The bartender started a conversation with her. Well, actually, he kept asking her questions like what she's doing alone in Egypt? Where are her parents? Nodame said that she's not a baby and wonders why people are treating her like a kid. The bartender just laughed but kept on asking her questions. "You're a tourist right? Are you Japanese? Why are you here alone?"

Nodame explained that she carelessly got off the bus. The bartender asked her where is her real destination, her final destination. She said it was supposed to be where he is. He being Chiaki. Then she went on saying that she already went there with somebody else. The man asked her if she's already on her way home.

The scene shifted to London and here we see a character that, although we have seen a few chapters back, hasn't played so much role yet. It is Charles Auclair. He's in London as a judge for some competition. At the hotel lobby, he bumped (not literally) to Stresemann who's going out with Elise on his heels. Stresemann is worried about Nodame.

Apparently, Stresemann and Auclair had already performed together and it has been 20 years since they last saw each other. They quabbled with each other a bit, arguing who's younger. Stresemann asked if Charles was there to see him. He said he wasn't and was there for a competition.

Charles mentioned that Stresemann did something really crazy to his student (Nodame). Stresemann said that there was no need for Charles to thank him but Charles vehemently said that there was no reason for him to thank Stresemann because he destroyed his plan. Just a little bit more and Nodame would've become a true pianist.

Stresemann wonders what's being a true pianist all about. Charles explained that it is the resolve to make living as a pianist regardless of whatever happens. He said that Nodame didn't like the competition and the business of the music world even though she likes music. Worst of it all is the fact that she made that far with only the goal of performing with her boyfriend.

Stresemann talked about seeing Nodame in Japan first and thought she was wonderful. He said he thought that the only thing left was to get her to perform on stage. He was just like being a parent. He said that the performance was a success and so was her debut. Charles reminded him that Nodame has gone off and he was a devil who doesn't know about parental love. He should stop being childish and grow up. Elise who was listening nearby agreed with him. Charles continued that he doesn't care about the people around him. Stresemann, a bit taken aback, wondered what he should do. Charles said that there's nothing for him to do. Nodame has to decide for herself.

In Italy, Chiaki was having lunch with Jean when he received a phone call from Nodame's number. When he answered, the caller said, "Shinichi-kun, it's Nodame. I love you." However, it wasn't her. Chiaki quickly realized it was Elise and asked her what she's up to. He even said that it pisses him off because she just sounds like Nodame. Elise asked him if Nodame was with him. Elise said that Nodame had gone missing after saying she cannot play. Chiaki said that he wanted to look for her but Elise said that it's better for him not to. After that, she said she has work for Chiaki in Brazil. Elise said that he has to concentrate on his work and to take care. After he hung up, he thought to himself, "what do you mean you can't play?" All this time, Jean was listening.

Back in Cairo, Nodame is sharing a room with some Chinese girl. She said that she's gonna go outside to buy some food and asked Nodame if she wants to come with her. They talked about sightseeing and the pyramids. However, some guy noticed them and recognized Nodame as the pianist who performed with Stresemann. This guy was so impressed with Nodame's playing and said that she moved him. He said that he was her fan. The Chinese girl was surprised to learn that Nodame was a famous pianist. She said that it was amazing how she can move someone's feelings with her playing. She said she wanted to hear it too. Nodame thought that she did it properly and yes, she faced the music so she doesn't need to anymore.

Meanwhile, back in Italy, Viera was looking for Chiaki as he was finishing a rehearsal. Jean told him that he was in the balcony. Chiaki is in the dumps and he can't be of any help. Jean told Viera-sensei what he heard earlier however he got it all wrong. He said that Chiaki is entangled with a girl named Elise in Brazil. Jean told maestro that he should talk to Chiaki and say something like "I'm the maestro of love." Viera-sensei thought that was pretty idiotic to say. Jean tried again and said that why not the treat me as your father thing. Viera said, "There's no need for him to think of anyone as his father." Lo and behold, Chiaki Masayuki came. He was out to ask Viera-sensei to eat out.

----------------------------

Thoughts:

Quite a long wait, however, not as long as the hiatus so I am not complaining.

After I read chapter 129, I didn't know what to expect for the next chapter. We all know that Nodame's gone off to somewhere. I thought that she had a clear destination but it looks like she just went off in a daze. Hmm, Egypt. I wonder why.

It seems like the thing that happened back in London is still on her mind. No doubt that she's avoiding Chiaki and she's trying to drift away from him. It saddened her that her dream of performing with Chiaki wasn't realized and her debut happened with someone else. However, it also seems like she's also trying to get away from music. It was implied on her thoughts when the Chinese girl was talking about her being a pianist and wanting to hear her performance too. Nodame said that since she already did it properly and faced the music head on, she doesn't need to anymore. It's already enough.

Prior to this, Auclair was talking about how Stresemann messed up his plans. He talked about how he wanted to make Nodame realize that no matter what happens in her life, she has to be with music. And she has to know the true joy, meaning and pleasure that comes from music. He also talked about how bad it is that Nodame's dream is only to perform with Chiaki.

Saying that, it all makes perfect sense. The problem that Auclair was trying to avoid is for Nodame to give up music. We kept saying that it was Nodame's dream to perform with Chiaki. It didn't happened. However, there was a point in her life when she already acknowledged that it was because of that dream that she got that far. And like what happened back when the first time they got to Paris, when Chiaki's all busy and his career is taking off, Nodame decided to do a recital so that she herself could move forward. Now, she decided to do it again when she debuted with Stresemann.

When she's saying that she didn't want to do it anymore, she's thinking that it's already enough. Since, she can't perform with Chiaki, she decided to make her debut anyway. She can't fulfill that dream, so she'll rather do it anyway, even without Chiaki. Atleast, she's doing it for her music.

It's because, after that failed 'marriage proposal', she's giving up on Chiaki. So, maybe, she did that final act as a musician and then quit.

On the surface, you might think Nodame's being really shallow. Just because she can't be with Chiaki, she's quitting? She decided to face the music because that's all there is to it? Then after that, ta-ta piano playing?

However, when you think about it, it really wasn't in Nodame's plan to be a pianist. Though gifted, she wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. It just all changed when she met Chiaki-sempai. She wanted to be with him so she decided to pursue her music so she can be wherever Chiaki is. So, maybe, yes, her reason is shallow. And that's what Auclair-sensei wanted to change in her. He wanted Nodame to be truly in love with music so no matter what happens, when her only reason (Chiaki) for moving forward with music is gone, she'll stay with her music.

I wonder what's going to happen next?

In other stuff, we finally see Masayuki again. Looks like it's now time to patch up ongoing family problems.

Okay, I know it's already an eyesore for being so long but I just want to make another point. The very first thing that I noticed when I read chapter 130 is the inscription "The Fourth Movement" on the first page (in French). For those familiar, the fourth movement is usually the last movement in symphonies. Could it be that Ninomiya-sensei is hinting that Nodame Cantabile is nearing the end? It could be a new arc but I can feel it in my gut that it's gonna be the end. Nodame Cantabile is running for 9 years now.

Let's all wait for Nodame Cantabile Chapter 131 on June 10, shall we?

Tamaki Hiroshi on Tour

You guys know that "Chiaki" can sing right? XD

Well, he'll be having a tour.

Go to his official website for the schedule.

News Round-Up: May 2009

I am back for a couple of news.

First off, Oricon did a survey on which television series they would like to have sequels. Apparently a special and announcement of two movies were not yet enough because Nodame Cantabile was ranked No. 7 according to the poll.

Another survey was done by Oricon in which they asked women which "fresh" actors they have been paying close attention to. Tamaki Hiroshi was included in the list. He was ranked No. 8, below Eita (who played Mine in NC) who was ranked No. 7.

The list is a bit odd because it includes actors that were considered to be already established. Some of them were not so fresh anymore. But anyway, you guys decide.

Nodame Cantabile 129

Here it is guys, the real thing! We have been waiting for a very long time for this scanlated chapter.

Lesson 129

"If I wait, will she come back?

When I notice it, will that smiling face be next to me?"

Oh.my.God.

What another sad and a bit scary inscription. This is obviously Chiaki saying it.

Okay, onto the summary.

After the show, everyone was praising Nodame. They all think she was amazing having played Chopin like that. People also think that this kind of thing is expected from the Maestro Stresemann. Oliver was talking to Chiaki and he was trying to stop him from leaving. He said that he could wait a little longer and he will be able to speak with Stresemann. Chiaki begged off and said that he has to go back that night because of the rehearsal for the opera. They overhear people all around them mentioning Nodame's name. Oliver said that Nodame is a spectacular girl so this thing might turn into something spectacular. Chiaki agreed but sadly thought that they will not be able to go back to how they were before everything.

The next morning, the news of Nodame's was all over London. She's on newspapers, tv and Internet. Two friends were reading different newspapers. The one the girl was holding is praising Nodame saying she's an endangered species brought in front of them. The girl was so curious and said that she wanted to see the performance. However, the one that the boy was holding was saying the exact opposite calling Nodame's Chopin a "Novel Chopin" and was saying negative things. But all this made peope want to see the performance more.

Back in Stresemann's office, Elise and Oliver are busy with the phones. A lot of people are inquiring about Nodame. Elise said that Nodame must join there office since they were the one who handled her debut. Elise had no difficulties in making Nodame sign the contract because until now, Nodame is still floating.

Students in the conservatory are also talking about Nodame. Nodame's friends too were shocked. Auclair sensei was surprised too. Chiaki's family also watched Nodame's performance on Youtube. However, her own family wasn't aware of anything. They were busy watching some dramas.

Elise wanted Nodame to perform again on Stresemann's next concert however Nodame is adamant that she can't perform like that again. Then she noticed her phone ringing and Chiaki's name was on the screen. She ignored the call.

On the other hand, Chiaki was dumfounded. Viera-sensei noticed that Chiaki is not acting normal eversince he came back from London. Jean ended up telling Viera-sensei all about Chiaki and Nodame's situation. Makes you wonder how Chiaki opened up to Jean about his situation with Nodame.

Back to London, Stresemann was informed by Elise that Nodame left. She left her phone but her purse and passport was gone.

Thoughts:

See!!! We are so right with our predictions. Nodame Cantabile is indeed going through a sad arc. Makes me a bit afraid because it makes me feel that my favorite manga is about to end. No, no, no. Erase that!!!

Okay, the first inscription. Chiaki was sitting there looking so gloomy. "If I wait, will she come back? When I notice it, will that smiling face be next to me?" This is definitely something. Looks like Chiaki's finally waking up. He was so used to leaving Nodame behind. He was also used to coming back whenever he felt like it and seeing her still there where he left her. Now, this time, Nodame was the one who left him. There is also no indication on when she will return. She doesn't want to see him and she doesn't want to talk to him. The impact must be so huge for him. This might be the first time he realized how much she means to him and how much he misses her.

Now about Nodame's shock. I think we can somehow (and I'm guessing here, okay) attribute it to Chiaki's appearance at the concert. All this time, she was so immersed with practicing. Maybe, Chiaki never so much entered her mind then. But when he appeared and wanted to talk to her, she was rattled. She might've remembered what made her did what she did. Why she decided to debut all of a sudden. Now, Chiaki's calling her. She doesn't know how to handle her feelings. Is she ready to talk to him? About what? For what? So, she left.

But this could also be because she was surprised at her own performance.

We are going to wait quite awhile for Nodame Cantabile Chapter 130. It will be released on May 25, 2009. Wow, a day before my birthday. Haha. It's a present, I guess.

Nodame Cantabile 129 (spoilers)

[Guys, the summary is already done. Click here. Chapter 129.]

Okay, a lot of people have been asking me about this. I already read the raw manga scans but well, my Japanese is not that good. But I do understand the gist of it.

This will just be a spoiler. The summary will be posted once NCIS released the translated manga scans. But just to whet the appetite of all Nodame lovers out there, here it is.

  • Everybody who watched Nodame's show was praising her performance as they left the theatre.
  • Chiaki thought that after this, things will never be the same again.
  • The next day, London was abuzz with news regarding Nodame's performance. She's on the newspaper, on TV, and on the Internet.
  • People who knew Nodame (her friends in Paris and back in Japan) heard about it and they were all surprised. Nodame's parents know nothing.
  • Elise forced Nodame to sign a contract with their agency and she wanted Nodame to prepare for another performance. Nodame said she couldn't perform like that again.
  • Nodame refused a phone call from Chiaki.
  • Chiaki was looking at his cellphone dumfoundedly.
  • Then, Nodame left bringing only her wallet and passport with her.

... what a sad looking Chiaki. Uh oh, looks like we're so right with our predictions.

Nodame Cantabile Chapter 128

Lesson 128

First, I'm so happy because the cover of Kiss Magazine is Chiaki-sama! However, I got a bit scared of the following inscription. It read, "since I've come this far alone, there's no need for me to run after him now." It was supposed to be Nodame saying that. Let's get to that later.

The chapter follows where we left off the last time. Nodame is still performing and is now into the 3rd movement. Chiaki's the one having internal monologue almost all throughout the chapter. He's commenting Nodame's use of Mazurka, a polish folk dance as the basis of her rondo. He also thinks that Maestro Stresemann is really good, not being fazed by Nodame's bad start. Chiaki is admiring how Nodame is really good not only in technical parts but she's good period. He thought, "I want to give life to the music along with her!"

After the performance, the crowd broke into a huge applause with people screaming "Bravo! Bravo!" Stresemann hugged Nodame and she shook hands with the concert master.

Later, Nodame was thinking back what happened on the stage. On the other room, a very beat up Stresemann (because of what Nodame had done, being clumsy and changing what they'd practice) doesn't want to come up for his next performance and keep saying, "Gimme some ice cream!" I dunno why ice cream? But still, he went back the stage and performed Brahms Symphony No. 4. (Haven't heard it yet, gotta look for it later.)

When all the performance was finally over, Oliver, Stresemann's bodyguard was shocked to see so many people waiting outside Nodame's room, guests and reporters alike. Oliver was with Chiaki and Chiaki wanted to leave and said that he will talk to her next time. But Oliver insisted and said that it must be Chiaki-sempai the first one who'll tell Nodame what he thought of her performance.

Oliver knocked on Nodame's room and told her that Chiaki was there to see her. A, I don't know, shocked? surprised? Nodame told Oliver that she doesn't want to see him. Oliver relayed the message to Chiaki, making him looked dumbfounded. And that's where the chapter ended.

______________________________

Thoughts:

First, Ninomiya-sensei's been leaving us with cliffhangers since she came back. I'm not complaining though, I'm already happy that she's back writing my favorite manga again.

So, about this chapter. I knew it the moment I saw the inscription about Nodame not following Chiaki anymore, that the series is turning over a new leaf now. We saw Chiaki appreciating how good Nodame is. Well, he already knows and acknowledge that she is very gifted but I think this is the first time when he actually thought of "giving life to the music along with her!"

Now, for Nodame, I think she's tired already. Having feeling left out all the time, with Chiaki further advancing in his career, and having been rejected by him that last time (see chapter 123), I think she had enough already. Maybe she feels that it's time for her to think of herself. And she made a decision to advance by herself. Her performance with Stresemann not only served as her debut but it's also the thing that separated her from Chiaki. Remember that she wanted to debut with Chiaki as the conductor.

She doesn't want to see Chiaki because I think, her feelings are of course still there. We know she loves him for real. After all, she did everything just to be with him right? She doesn't want to see him because she might change her mind, and run after Chiaki again.

Looks like Nodame Cantabile's heading for a sad arc. If I'm right with what I'm thinking, I think it's Chiaki's turn now to run after Nodame.
Let's now all wait for Chapter 129. Hopefully, it won't be too much of a cliffhanger like Chapters 127 and 128.

Nodame Cantabile Chapter 127

Mukya! I’ve said this so many times but I’m saying it again, Nodame-chan I missed you! It’s good to have you back. And you too, Chiaki-sempai.

Okay, on to the chapter.

It opens with a beautiful illustration of Nodame and Chiaki walking in Paris. That picture above. I love it, it’s a beautiful picture. Next, it’s the last scene in chapter 126 when Maestro Stresemann said, when they are about to play, “It’s time to let the music play.” On the side, there read, “Is this heaven? Or is it hell?” Hmmm, what could this mean?

Everyone inside the hall was abuzz. They kept speculating who the piano player is. She’s unknown but knowing Maestro Stresemann, they think he wouldn’t pick someone who’s not good and beautiful. Hearing the “beautiful” quote made Chiaki react, “This again?”

Moreover, Chiaki wondered how Nodame got Stresemann for her debut and also one of England’s finest orchestras accompanying her.

Nodame entered the hall wearing a determined yet funny expression on her face. She’s also pouting her lips when she shook hands with the concertmaster. The audience was surprised to see that she’s only a kid, though not literally. ^,^

The piece was Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor. I listened to the piece and it was a wonderful piano concerto. Sorrowful at first, then building up.

When it was Nodame’s turn to finally perform, the orchestra members and Stresemann too were surprised that she’s playing it differently from how they practiced it before. Different, but still amazing. Elise was also furious. Chiaki’s not surprised because he knows that wherever Nodame performs, she’ll always be true to herself. However, he also realizes that she’s not that messy as before and she’s trying her best not to make the performance a failure.

Chiaki then remembered what his mom told him that Nodame was his angel because she was the one who helped him recovered from his phobia and finally go to Europe. However, he was also thinking that God kept him back in Japan so that he can bring Nodame to the stage in Europe. He wondered, “wasn’t I the angel?”

Thoughts:

So, there. That’s chapter 127. I don’t know, maybe I was just waiting for this installment for so long that I felt like I was left hanging. 32 pages weren’t enough to satiate the longing.

“Is this heaven? Or is it hell?” I was confused however when I read this, two things came to mind. One, Nodame’s finally debuting. That stage could be her heaven finally. However, if it won’t go well, it could be her hell because it might ruin her chances.

Debuting with Stresemann is a very big step for Nodame, not only for her musical career but personally. We are finally seeing her doing something serious for her career. For so long, Nodame was advancing not for herself but because she was chasing Chiaki. But I guess after that rejection in chapter 123, she finally wakes up and decides that she must do something for herself now.

At the end of chapter 126, I was so preoccupied with thoughts of how Chiaki would react when he finally saw Nodame perform on stage with Stresemann and not with him. In this chapter, I’m glad to see him looked proud of her.

And now it looks like things are going into a new direction.

Waiting for chapter 128 now… Thank God, it won’t be that long.
